No Excessive Force in Arrest of Protester at Hillary Speech

A protester arrested at a Hillary Clinton speech in 2011 had his suit against the arresting officer properly dismissed, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said June 1.

The police had probable cause to arrest the protester, and film made by news organizations showed they didn’t use excessive force, the opinion by Judge A. Raymond Randolph said.

Raymond McGovern had a ticket to a speech by then-Secretary of State Clinton at George Washington University. When the speech was getting started, McGovern stood facing the crowd so it could read his “Veterans for Peace” shirt.
