A Mississippi law establishing the right to store firearms in locked vehicles at work didn’t cover a contract worker at a Nissan plant because security measures at the facility meant an exception to the law applied, the Fifth Circuit ruled.
A lower court therefore properly dismissed Michael Wayne McIntyre’s lawsuit against Nissan and contractor CalsonicKansei NA Inc., the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit said Friday. CalsonicKansei’s human resources manager and a security officer found a loaded gun in McIntrye’s locked vehicle after receiving an anonymous tip, the appeals court said.
