Nike Store Manager Gets Shopper’s Race Bias Claims Dismissed

A lawsuit alleging the manager of a Nike Inc. store racially profiled and harassed Black shoppers in Santa Monica, Calif., was trimmed by a federal judge, who said the shoppers failed to state claims against either the manager or the sports retailer.

Joel Stallworth and TaMiya Dickerson said they were confronted on the street in front of a Nike store and falsely accused of stealing a child’s basketball by Wendy Magee, a store manager. Magee involved three Santa Monica police officers, who detained Stallworth until he produced the receipt.
