An immigration activist who claims he was targeted for deportation because of his criticism of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. immigration policy is entitled to a stay of removal, a federal appeals court ruled April 25.
Ravidath Ragbir is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, but became a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. in 1994. An immigration judge entered an order of removal against him in 2006 because of his prior convictions for wire fraud. He received a series of administrative stays of removal from ICE.
