New Test of Abortion Clinic ‘Bubble’ Zone Law Barred, State Says

Colorado officials are urging a federal court to uphold a state law prohibiting anti-abortion protesters from approaching people inside an eight-foot “bubble” zone near clinic entrances.

Governor Jared Polis (D) and Attorney General Philip Weiser (D) asked the US District Court for the District of Colorado Thursday to issue a pretrial ruling in their favor in anti-abortion advocate Wendy Faustin’s free-speech lawsuit.

Faustin couldn’t win because the district court is bound by US Supreme Court precedent—a 2000 decision in Hill v. Colorado upholding the same state law, they said.
