Colonel Gail A. Curley is the new Marshal of the U.S. Supreme Court and the second woman to hold the position, the court’s public information office announced on Monday.
Curley succeeds longtime Marshal Pamela Talkin, who retired last year after 19 years.
The marshal has a host of duties including calling oral argument sessions to order and serving as the court’s chief security officer, facilities administrator, and contracting executive, managing approximately 260 employees including the court’s police force.
