New Jersey Lawyer Who Brought Loaded Gun to Courthouse Censured

A New Jersey attorney convicted of unlawfully bringing a loaded handgun to a courthouse has been censured.

A censure “is the appropriate quantum of discipline for respondent’s unethical conduct,” the New Jersey Supreme Court said May 20. The court didn’t explain why it didn’t accept its disciplinary review board’s recommended six-month suspension.

Charles Daley, Jr. was arrested in 2018 after the gun loaded with illegal hollow point bullets was discovered in his backpack at the Ocean County Courthouse, the review board’s decision said.
