The Trump administration tapped an immigration judge with less than three months on the job for a top position at the Justice Department office that adjudicates deportation and asylum claims.
Stephen F. Keane, who was appointed to the Concord Immigration Court in California in February, will serve as deputy director of the Executive Office for Immigration Review, according to an update Tuesday on the department’s website. Keane, a longtime military lawyer, was also removed Tuesday from DOJ’s online list of more than 600 immigration judges.
