The Trump administration advanced its quest to halt the use of nationwide injunctions that have been used to halt policies in both the Trump and Obama administrations.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions lambasted such injunctions during a speech in March, saying they are “paralyzing the federal government.”
“Since President Trump took office less than two years ago, he has been hit with 25 of these nationwide orders,” Sessions said in a speech Sept. 13. Courts have used such injunctions to block Trump policies relating to the travel ban, sanctuary cities, and deferred action for “dreamers.”
