N.Y. Lawyer Tests Positive for Virus After Court Appearance (1)

A lawyer tested positive for coronavirus after representing clients at a state courthouse in White Plains, N.Y., prompting court officials to recommend attorneys, judges, and other staff to self-isolate and consult their doctors, a spokesman for the court system said.

The lawyer, who represented clients at the matrimonial and family courts in the Westchester County Courthouse between March 2 and 5, was diagnosed with the virus Tuesday, Lucian Chalfen, a spokesman for the New York State Office of Court Administration, said in an email.

The courts cleaned the affected courtrooms and contacted authorities about the diagnosis, Chalfen said.
