A New Jersey lawyer who pleaded guilty in New York to conspiracy to commit wire fraud was disbarred.
There’s “good cause” to disbar Richard Luthmann, the New Jersey Supreme Court said Wednesday, citing its disciplinary review board’s record.
The board recommended in February that Luthmann be disbarred after his 2019 sentencing to two four-year terms of imprisonment.
In 2015, Luthmann and two clients created fraudulent scrap metal companies to defraud legitimate businesses, in particular Chinese companies, the board’s report said. They ultimately collected several hundred thousand dollars via the scheme, it said.
