N.J. Lawyer Censured Over Accidental Shooting of Minor

A New Jersey lawyer was censured for failing to seek medical attention for a minor who was struck by a bullet when the woman’s gun accidentally discharged.

The New Jersey Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the three-month suspension proposed by its disciplinary board for Annmarie Smits, finding that “censure is the appropriate quantum of discipline” for the unethical conduct.
