N.J. Gym That Flouted Covid Orders on Fox News Show Owes $124K

Atilis Gym of Bellmawr, N.J., must pay about $124,000 in sanctions for refusing to close during a state Covid order, a state appeals court ruled.

The gym’s collateral attacks on the order aren’t properly before the court and there is “no substantive merit in Atilis’ arguments,” the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, ruled Wednesday in an unpublished opinion.

Atilis argued that it was a political campaign center not subject to the requirements on gyms, that the sanctions were improperly punitive, and that the Emergency Health Powers Act—the statute on which the orders were based—is unconstitutional.
