More High Court Security Funds Proposed by House Republicans (1)

House Republicans proposed raising funding for the US Supreme Court to ramp up security for the justices, amid a rise in threats to the federal judiciary.

The draft text, released Tuesday by the House Appropriations Committee, would give $136 million to the Supreme Court for salaries and expenses in fiscal 2025, which begins in October, a more than 5% increase over current levels.

This increase would increase funding for the Supreme Court Police to provide protection for justices at their personal residences, according to a committee summary.
