Mississippi Judge Blasts Qualified Immunity in Blistering Order

A police officer who pulled over a Black man driving a Mercedes and spent nearly two hours searching his car for nonexistent drugs is entitled to qualified immunity only because U.S. Supreme Court precedent dictates he must be, a federal judge in Mississippi said Tuesday.

“Thankfully, Clarence Jamison left the stop with his life,” Judge Carlton W. Reeves said of the driver. “Too many others have not.”
