Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice to Step Down in the Fall

Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Gildea will step down from the bench effective Oct. 1, she announced Thursday.

Gildea, 61, led the court for 13 years. After being appointed as an associate justice in 2006, she won election in 2008 and was named chief justice in 2010.

She is stepping down from the role before reaching the state’s mandatory retirement age of 70.
