A whistleblower who described a medical device company’s overbilling scheme in detailed terms, not earlier whistleblowers who made vaguer allegations, will get a $34 million reward, a federal appeals court held May 6.
Mark McGuire wasn’t the first whistleblower to file a False Claims Act lawsuit accusing Millennium Laboratories Inc. of encouraging doctors using its multi-drug testing kit to bill the government for too many follow-up tests, according to the ruling by the First Circuit.
