Microsoft Wants Texas Law Firm to Pay Patent Case Legal Fees

Microsoft Corp. asked a Texas federal court to order Ramey LLP to pay attorneys’ fees the tech giant amassed defending itself in a patent infringement lawsuit it alleged is part of the law firm’s history of filing “frivolous” claims targeting big companies.

Houston-based Ramey LLP—which has seven lawyers but has brought 222 patent cases in just the past 10 months against companies—has been involved in several suits against Microsoft, the company said in a sanctions motion filed Sept. 19 in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
