Michigan, Illinois Supreme Court Chiefs Plan to Retire (1)

The chief justices of the Michigan and Illinois Supreme Courts will retire before the end of the year, according to announcements Monday.

Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Bridget McCormack notified Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in a letter that she planned to retire from the bench between Nov. 22 and Dec. 31., the court said in a news release. The Illinois Supreme Court, meanwhile, said Chief Justice Anne Burke will retire on Nov. 30 after 16 years on the court.
