Female athletes at Michigan State University lost their bid for a preliminary injunction to make the school keep its women’s swimming and diving teams, after the Western District of Michigan said Friday that they’re not likely to prevail on the merits of their Title IX claims.
The plaintiffs allege that MSU provides “fewer and poorer athletic participation opportunities” for women than it does for men, and that the elimination of their team would exacerbate the gender problem.
