MGM Resorts to Pay $45 Million to Settle Data-Breach Lawsuits

MGM Resorts International would pay $45 million to settle allegations it negligently failed to protect the personal information of millions of customers in data breaches that took place in 2019 and 2023, under a deal given initial approval in federal court.

The proposed settlement would provide benefits to three tiers of class members: an estimated $75 cash payment to those whose Social Security number or military ID number was exposed, $50 to those whose passport number or driver’s license number was exposed, and $20 to those whose less sensitive information was exposed, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval ...
