MeTV Watchers’ Privacy Class Action Revived by Appeals Court

The Seventh Circuit on Friday revived a proposed class action video privacy case against MeTV accusing the company of illegally sharing users’ video-viewing data with Meta Platforms Inc.

A judge in the US District for the Northern District of Illinois dismissed the initial complaint in July 2023 and threw out an amended complaint less than a year later, ruling that the claimants weren’t “subscribers” as defined by the federal Video Privacy Protection Act.
