A Delaware judge questioned Tuesday whether claims of wrongdoing against Meta Platforms Inc. should be stayed pending the outcome of a separate FTC lawsuit alleging Facebook’s parent monopolized the personal social networking market.
The hearing in Delaware’s Chancery Court focused on Meta’s acquisitions of the photo-sharing app Instagram and the messaging service WhatsApp. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, a pension fund, claims the company deployed a “buy or bury” scheme to buy competitors and block future threats to Meta’s market dominance.
