Massachusetts Algonquin Pipeline Air Permit Vacated On Appeal

Algonquin Gas Transmission LLC’s plan to build a natural gas compressor in Massachusetts, part of its “Atlantic Bridge Project” natural gas pipeline, hit a snag Wednesday, with the First Circuit ruling that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection didn’t properly evaluate the best technologies to be used.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit vacated the DEP’s air permit, which certified its compliance with the Massachusetts Clean Air Act, after complaints from nearby municipalities and citizens alike.
