Maryland Judge Tosses Another Pair of State Climate Tort Cases

Two climate misinformation lawsuits against BP PLC, ConocoPhillips, and other companies were dismissed Thursday by a Maryland state judge, who took cues from other state judges who quashed similar cases in recent months.

Judge Steven I. Platt of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, Md., denied oil company bids to dismiss the case in May 2024, but decided to side with them in this new round of motions to dismiss.
