Maryland High Court Input Sought on University’s Tort Immunity

A challenge to a Maryland law that waives sovereign immunity for tort actions against the state will likely be resolved by the Court of Appeals of Maryland.

The US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit asked the state court on Thursday to address whether the waiver extends to federal statutory claims, including Michele Williams’ claim alleging wrongful termination in retaliation for whistleblowing.
