Driver-recording services provider Lytx Inc. would pay $4.25 million to settle allegations in two federal lawsuits it collected the biometric identifiers of truck drivers without their consent in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act under a deal given initial approval by a federal court.
The deal would allocate 50% of the settlement fund to a sub-class of Illinois residents, and 50% to a larger sub-class of non-Illinois residents whose claims were subject to challenge on extraterritoriality grounds.
