Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Censured for Election Misconduct

A Louisiana Supreme Court justice was publicly censured by his colleagues Wednesday for misconduct for interfering in the 2019 election of another justice to the state’s highest court.

Justice Jefferson Hughes III, the second-most senior justice on the court, also was ordered to repay over $2,000 in costs to the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana, according to the court’s order. Justice Scott Crichton was joined by justices James Genovese, Jay McCallum and Piper Griffin in the order.
