Littler Sanctioned for ‘Baseless’ Claims in DISH Network Defense

Attorneys from employment law firm Littler Mendelson were reprimanded by a federal judge for making false claims in a summary judgment motion for a Family and Medical Leave Act case.

The lawyers didn’t “even attempt to excuse some of the most patently false statements at issue,” Judge Roslyn Silver of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona said Oct. 4 in imposing the Rule 11 sanction.

Silver said she identified about 50 defense counsel statements “that did not appear to have been made in good faith” when she denied DISH Network’s summary judgment motion in June.
