Lies Justify Nixing $1.1 Million Bed-in-a-Box Infringement Award

Zinus Inc. isn’t entitled to a $1.1 million patent infringement award because it was based on later-discovered misrepresentations by the company’s president, the Federal Circuit affirmed.

The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California originally ordered Cap Export LLC to pay Zinus for infringing its patent on a bed frame that breaks down and stows inside the headboard for shipping. It later set aside the judgment after the fraud was uncovered.
