Lawyer Must Get Consent to Sue Over Arizona Bar Admission Policy

A lawyer who didn’t follow instructions in a suit challenging Arizona’s reciprocal bar admission policy may not file any similar suits in federal district court in Arizona without getting permission from the chief judge.

Joseph R. Giannini ignored the court’s specific instructions for filing an amended complaint and has a history of losing similar suits in other states, Judge Gonzalo P. Curiel of the US District Court for the District of Arizona said in a May 30 order granting sanctions. The pre-filing order covers only the types of bar admission claims Giannini has been filing vexatiously, Curiel said.
