A Wisconsin lawyer who missed court appearances on behalf of clients and was found to have misappropriated funds belonging to one of them was suspended for two years by the state’s highest court.
The “seriousness” of Christopher S. Petros’s misconduct requires a two-year suspension to protect the public and deter other attorneys from similar misconduct, the Wisconsin Supreme Court said on Wednesday.
In a 2019 stipulation with the state office of lawyer regulation, Petros admitted to committing 24 counts of misconduct and that he owed $24,000 to the Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, the court said.
