The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Nov. 5 reprimanded an attorney who distributed to clients and prospects a laudatory e-mail from then-Chief Judge Randall R. Rader (In re Reines, Fed. Cir., 14-MA004 (14-4), 11/5/14).
The court, sitting en banc, faulted Edward R. Reines of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Redwood Shores, Calif., for forwarding the message—regardless of the encouragement by Rader to do so—and for adding comments accompanying the forwarded message that “convey a special relationship” with the judge.
