Lawyer Disbarred for Setting Up Opposing Counsel’s Arrest

A prominent Florida trial lawyer who helped orchestrate the DUI arrest of a courtroom adversary in the midst of a high-profile jury trial was permanently disbarred Jan. 28 by the Florida Supreme Court (Fla. Bar v. Diaco, 2016 BL 23619, Fla., SC14-1052, unpublished 1/28/16).

The ruling came six days after Stephen C. Diaco said he wouldn’t contest the findings of a disciplinary referee who urged the court to disbar Diaco and two other lawyers in his now-defunct firm for their roles in plotting the 2013 arrest of opposing counsel C. Phillip Campbell.
