- Latham Expanding its Investment Funds Practice
- Edward Nelson Has 25 Years+ Experience in Private Fund Formation
Latham & Watkins is moving to expand its investment funds practice, adding Edward Nelson from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher to its New York office as a partner in its corporate department.
Nelson, who will be a member of the firm’s investment funds practice, focuses on the organization and operation of private investment funds. He has worked with buyout, infrastructure, venture capital, real estate, secondary, and credit funds.
“Ed’s experience representing a broad range of private investment funds is perfectly complementary to our group. He is a terrific addition to our market-leading Investment Funds Practice as we continue to expand both in the U.S. and globally,” Andrea Schwartzman, global chair of Latham’s investment funds practice, said in a statement.
Nelson is the second partner to join Latham’s investment funds practice this year. In February, the firm hired Ivana Rouse, formerly a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in Houston. Rouse, who primarily focuses on advising fund sponsors on fundraising activities and special operational matters, works in Houston.
In joining Latham, Nelson also brings experience representing institutional investors in their private investments and other alternative investment activities, and regularly advises on issues related to the Securities Act, Investment Company Act, and Investment Advisers Act.
