Latham & Watkins added two partners this week from Crowell & Moring to its Washington office as part of its financial technology practice.

Mitchell Rabinowitz and Jenny Cieplak will focus on technology transactions in the financial services industry.

Their prior experience includes working on the creation of electronic trading platforms, exchanges, clearinghouses and data repositories.

The lateral hires were made a few months after Latham fintech partner Vivian Maese left for Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Maese had been co-chair of Latham’s financial institutions and fintech practices groups.

Marc Jaffe, Global Chair of Latham’s Corporate Department, said the two “have a sophisticated understanding of innovative technologies, as well as the financial markets in which they’re deployed. Their skill-set further catalyzes the firm’s robust transactional practices in financial centers around the globe.”
