Kyl Says He’ll Recuse Himself on Lobbied Issues (Corrected)

Newly sworn-in Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) says he’ll recuse himself from voting on issues on which he lobbied on during his stint at Covington & Burling.

“I would,” he told reporters, when asked if he would recuse himself. “I don’t know if I have to or not, but I would.”

Kyl is in line to join the Armed Services Committee, where a recusal decision would mean abstaining from issues that would affect Raytheon Co., Northrop Grumman Corp. and SAP America; its subsidiary SAP Concur has been chosen to revamp the Pentagon’s IT system.
