Kentucky Abortion Clinic No-Standing Zone Remains in Effect (1)

A local ordinance establishing a buffer zone approaching the entrance to the only medical facility in Kentucky that performs surgical abortions will stay in effect because it likely doesn’t violate protesters’ free speech rights, a federal court said.

The Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government’s law is content-neutral and narrowly tailored to serve a compelling governmental interest in ensuring patients entering and exiting the health-care facilities can do so safely, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky said.

Sisters for Life Inc., Kentucky Right to Life Association, and individual protesters filed a notice of appeal from the decision Monday. ...
