Kavanaugh Reclaims Highest ABA Rating Ahead of Senate Hearings

U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh received some good news just before next week’s confirmation hearings, as the American Bar Association unanimously gave him its highest rating Aug. 31.

The ABA’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary rated Kavanaugh as well qualified, an upgrade from its last rating.

The committee initially rated Kavanaugh as well qualified in 2005, but downgraded it to qualified in 2006 before he joined the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

There were concerns at the time that he lacked litigation experience.
