A former deputy prosecutor in Hawaii settled his lawsuit alleging that his speech rights were violated when he was fired for reporting to state officials that a judicial nominee was under investigation for witness tampering, a federal court said.
Robert Christensen and Kauai County, Haw., reported the settlement to Magistrate Judge Kenneth J. Mansfield of the US District Court for the District of Hawaii. On Tuesday, Mansfield determined that the agreement was valid and enforceable, and vacated further proceedings in the lawsuit. The terms of the settlement weren’t immediately available.
