The US Supreme Court agreed to consider what factors judges can take into account when revoking parole.
The three individuals at the heart of the case granted Monday were all sentenced to prison for parole violations. In doing so, the judges in each case considered factors other than those listed in federal statute.
The US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit upheld the sentences saying that, even though Congress provided a list of factors to consider, it never said the list was exclusive.
