Justices to Hear Christian USPS Worker’s Sunday Deliveries Suit

The US Supreme Court will review a Christian letter carrier’s lawsuit alleging the US Postal Service failed to accommodate his religious objection to delivering packages for Amazon.com Inc. on Sundays.

The justices will reevaluate long-standing precedent on how to evaluate whether a religious accommodation will unduly burden an employer.

A divided US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit panel shouldn’t have upheld a lower court’s grant of summary judgment to the USPS on the ground that accommodating his work-religion conflict would have posed an undue hardship, Gerald Groff said in his petition seeking high court review.
