Justices Reject Defendant’s Bid to Keep Court-Appointed Lawyer

The US Supreme Court refused to consider if poor people have a constitutional right in a criminal prosecution to be represented by the same court-appointed attorney for the entirety of their case.

In an order Tuesday, the justices rejected an appeal from a Colorado man seeking a new trial after he was convicted of reckless driving and eluding an officer who tried to pull him over in 2017.
