Justices Reject Case Over Phone Search in Parole Breach Arrest

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to consider whether law enforcement officers can, without a warrant, search a cell phone belonging to a man who was arrested for violating parole.

Henry Wood, the man at the center of the case, tried to suppress evidence of child pornography taken from his phone, arguing that the Fourth Amendment’s privacy protections require a warrant for such a search.

He sought Supreme Court review after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit found the search of his cell phone didn’t violate the Fourth Amendment.
