Justices Doubt They Can Rule on Labcorp Bid to Limit Class (1)

The US Supreme Court appeared likely to reject Labcorp’s bid to limit who can join a class action blind people brought against the company for having self-service check-in kiosks at its diagnostic labs that they can’t access independently.

Tuesday’s argument largely focused on whether the justices can even consider Labcorp’s appeal of a lower court decision to certify a class that could include upwards of 100,000 Californians.

Several justices suggested they can’t because the district court had redefined the class of litigants after the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed its certification.
