The US Supreme Court refused to halt a deal that a Florida gambling business says gives tribes a monopoly over online sports betting in the state.
In an order on Wednesday, the court denied an emergency request to block Florida’s 2021 gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe that allows the tribe to operate online sports gambling.
The gambling business argued the compact violates the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, which covers gaming only on native lands, and circumvents Florida’s constitutional prohibition on casino gambling unless it’s approved in a voter referendum.
