Justice Department Loses Bid to Sanction Immigration Lawyer (1)

A federal judge declined to penalize an immigration lawyer over his efforts to stop his client’s deportation, rejecting an unusual effort by the Justice Department to have him sanctioned for making allegedly frivolous arguments.

Chief Judge Frances M. Tydingco-Gatewood of the US District Court for the District of Guam found on Monday that Joshua Schroeder, a Los Angeles-based immigration and intellectual property attorney, had engaged in conduct before the court that “was reasonable” and argued in good faith.
