Juror Can’t Rely on ‘Holy Spirit’ to Acquit Ex-Lawmaker

A juror who said during deliberations that the Holy Spirit told him former Florida Rep. Corrine Brown (D) wasn’t guilty of the fraud charges against her was properly excused from the jury, the Eleventh Circuit said Jan. 9.

Juror 13 wasn’t excused because of his religious beliefs, he was excused because he was unable to follow instructions and decide the case on the facts and law presented, the opinion by Judge Robin S. Rosenbaum said.
