Judiciary Seeks $1.54 Billion for Security, Tech, Courts (1)

The federal judiciary is asking Congress for $1.54 billion for security, courthouse construction, and information technology upgrades.

The funding could be part of any infrastructure package or a budget measure, judiciary officials John Lungstrum and Roslynn Mauskopf told leaders of the House and Senate Budget committees in a July 12 letter made public on Tuesday.

Lungstrum is budget committee chair of the Judicial Conference, the judiciary’s policymaking arm.Mauskopf is secretary to the Judicial Conference and director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, the agency that assists federal courts with non-judicial business.
