Judiciary Raises Estimate for Shutdown Operations to Three Weeks

The federal judiciary now projects it can sustain operations for up to three weeks in the event of a government shutdown, up a week from from its earlier estimate.

A spokesperson for the Administrative Office of the US Courts, the judiciary’s administrative arms, confirmed the revised projection on Wednesday as Congress faces down, yet again, the prospect of a government shutdown.

The court system had previously estimated in September, ahead of the most recent shutdown deadline, that it could operate for two more weeks if federal appropriations expired.
